Participating in WTMFI Wednesdays on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ (Step-by-Step)

WTMFI (Way Too Much F***ing Information) Wednesdays

A weekly sex meme arousing discussions on sexuality

As you probably know by now, there are a variety of ways that you can participate in WTMFI Wednesdays. We wanted to make sure that anyone who wanted to join in could do it easily. To find out all the ways you can participate, check out our post "How to Participate in WTMFI Wednesdays".

Today, and over the next few posts, we'll be highlighting ways that you can participate and giving you step-by-step instructions on doing it easily and effectively. For our first post in this series, we're going to show you how to participate on three major social networks: Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

Step 1: Follow @WTMFIWednesdays

The very first step is for you to pick which social network you'd like to participate on. Once you've done that, you should make sure to follow us so that you see our updates - including the questions from each session - week after week. Here's the links:

Step 2a: If you chose FACEBOOK...

There are various ways that you can participate in WTMFI Wednesdays on Facebook. Some of our favorites include:

Use the hashtag: #WTMFIWednesdays
Whether you're sharing links to your submissions on your own blogs or just writing out your answers on Facebook, use our hashtag (#WTMFIWednesdays) across any social network to stay connected to the conversation.

Comment on or share pictures: View Albums
For every session of WTMFI Wednesdays, we make a photo album with the session's cover image and an image with each of the 5 + 1 questions. You can easily comment on any picture with your answer to the question or share the album and post your submissions.

Join the group: WTMFI Wednesdays Participants
We've created a Facebook Group for participants, both Registered and Unregistered, to come and share their submissions and have more involved discussions about the questions. In the group, there are even more options for participating - including adding your entire Session Master List.

Step 2b: If you chose TWITTER...

Our strategy on Twitter is simple: We post an initial update letting you know when that day's session is live on Then you get an image with each of the questions over the span of the next thirty or so minutes. And then you get a closing out tweet. So the two best ways to participate on Twitter (of course, using the #WTMFIWednesdays hashtag) are:

Reply directly to the questions as they appear

Retweet any of our posts - initial tweet, question tweets or closing out tweets - with links to your submissions elsewhere or with your answers

Step 2c: If you chose GOOGLE+...

The options for participating on Google+ are very similar to the options for participating on both Facebook and Twitter, just the terminology changes. Here's a quick run down:

Use the hashtag: #WTMFIWednesdays
Never hurts to mention it again - add the hashtag to all of your posts. It makes it so that we can all follow along across social networks easily. You can also tag us directly - remember on Google+ it's +WTMFIWednesdays and everywhere else it's @WTMFIWednesdays

Comment, +1 or Share: Collections
For every session, there is a Collection. Much like Twitter, we post the initial link, add pictures of each question, and then a closing link. You can comment on each of these with links to your submissions or your responses, +1 to let us know you love it and share it wherever and however you'd like!

Join the community: WTMFI Wednesdays Participants
Like Facebook, we also have a group on Google+ for Registered and Unregistered participants. It allows you a little more privacy in participating.

Step 3: Make sure you've filled out the social section of your profile

In our post "Setting Up Your Profile (Step-by-Step)", we showed you the social section of your profile. If you're planning on sharing your WTMFI Wednesdays submissions or answers on a social network, you should definitely include your links!

As you can see, participating on your favorite social networks is easy and effective. You can even mix it up and sometimes participate on your favorite social network and sometimes participate on and sometimes participate on your blog. It's really up to you to decide how you want to join in the fun!

In future posts, we will walk you step-by-step through participating on Tumblr, adding your submissions with Blogger and Wordpress blogs, joining in on and highlighting some of the other fun ways you can get involved in WTMFI Wednesdays.

If you have any questions or suggestions about participating in WTMFI Wednesdays, please don't hesitate to contact us or leave your comments!
