Setting Up Your Profile (Step-By-Step)

In our last post, we walked you through the simple steps of becoming a Registered Participant of WTMFI Wednesdays. Today, we wanted to take you step-by-step through the process of setting up and editing your profile.

Your profile allows you to share a little bit about yourself, as well as all your links and even lets you track your submissions to each session of WTMFI Wednesdays. It's also how you can best connect with other participants of the meme.

So, let's set up your profile!

Step 1: Login and Access Your Profile

Now that you've become a Registered Participant, you should have a username and password that you can login to WTMFI Wednesdays with. If you haven't registered yet, you can do that here. Or you can login here.



After you login, you'll be able to access your profile by clicking on your username anywhere on the site or in the circled locations:




Step 2: Edit "Basics"

When you first login and visit your profile, it's likely to look something like this:


Find the "Profile" link to begin editing your profile. By default, your profile will look something like this:


Once you click on the "Edit" link, you'll be able to begin sprucing up your profile. 

First, you'll fill out the basics. You may have already filled some of this out when you registered for your account. If not, now is the time to do it.


You can configure who can see each section of your profile and fill out as much or as little as you want. Be sure to share your website if you have one and if you plan on participating in the forums, you can add a signature for that here as well.


Step 3: Edit "Social"

Next, you'll click through to the "Social" section of your profile. This will allow you to add links to your social networks like Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Tumblr.

Step 4: Edit "Submissions"

This is probably the most important section of your profile! 

First, you'll be asked where you plan to answer the questions for WTMFI Wednesdays. If part of the reason you became a Registered Participant was to submit your answers directly to our site, then you will need to pay close attention to this section!


When you register on WTMFI Wednesdays, you are automatically given the role of Subscriber. However, if you want to be able to submit on our site, then you need to be a Contributor. If you are planning on submitting directly on our site, then make sure you select the "On WTMFI Wednesdays" option. This will alert our admins to switch your user role. 

If you plan on submitting elsewhere, like your own blog or on a social network, let us know where you plan on submitting and then you can track each of your submissions to each of your sessions. Users who view your profile will be able to view all of your submissions, assuming you allow the field to be seen by everyone.


Step 5: Upload Profile & Cover Photo

The final steps of completing your profile are uploading a profile and cover photo.


We suggest using a square image for your profile photo.


We suggest using an image at least 800px wide and 225px tall.
